Kaye's Qualifications

Blowing my own trumpet

Long story... short

I've been in the counselling arena for over a decade - mainly helping soldiers deal with their trauma and guiding their family's through it.  I also coach folk with improving their confidence - and also getting their book written and published.

Long Story... well, long

If you'd prefer to see how I'm qualified to help you, scoot on down to the bottom of this page.  Meanwhile...

For about 35 years, I worked for media, marketing and publishing companies, the skills of which are put to work when helping aspiring authors, build their confidence in their writing.  I've also written 12 books - fact and fiction - mostly based around psychology of the human mind.  Figures.

I earned a degree in psychotherapy (relationships was my speciality) and, for the past decade I've made it my mission to help young soldiers find their feet and veterans calm their minds.  As a result, I continue to present workshops for couples as well as workshops on easing anxiety, lifting depression and calming trauma.  Now, I'm putting all I know into my new online training courses so I can reach even more people.

While helping military folk, I became aware that some systems we have grown up with, particularly political, legal, educational and medical organisations, can cause a lot of men and women an awful lot of stress.  Stress has a habit of causing physical pain and emotional heartbreak if you don't know how to deal with it correctly.

My goal has always been to help people ease their emotional turmoil while dealing with stress.  Of course, there are lot of good kindly folk who want to do no harm to others (me included) and I use my skills to get to the core of client's issues quickly, so that they can get on with life the way they want to.

I see this earth as a schoolroom, to have experiences we can learn lessons from.  For almost six decades I've been living on this beautiful land, I've experienced life's delightful highs and devastating lows.  Through that time, I've learned that there are only three laws that we all need to abide by, and they are:

Men and women have an obligation to cause no...

  • harm or loss
  • fraud
  • breach of the peace

...to any other man, woman, boy or girl.

For the past decade I worked closely with the military and learned a heck of a lot of lessons while there.  Prior to that, for nearly three decades, I worked for blue-chip businesses and multi-media companies.  Here's a quick break-down of those experiences...

Marketing and Multi-Media

For two decades, I assisted in moving the paperwork and pounds (£s) of CEOs of billion-dollar marketing companies, media moguls, some famous actors and the publishing trade.  As well as acting in a personal assistant role, I regularly helped ease the stress and anxieties of high-flying businessmen and women.  This led me to focus on a career path that aligned with my strengths.

Military

As my career took a slight turn away from stressed-out 'money and media men', towards military hearts and minds, I took on some additional study, so I could learn more about human nature, behaviour and emotions.  From those studies, I began to know how emotions could be controlled - or not.

My life lessons from the military, began as I signed up to be a reserve soldier, then became an 'army wife' and, latterly, I worked directly with soldiers within the Welfare network.  In the welfare environment, I came across a huge variety of personalities within the rank and file.  Inevitably, this gave me insight to a wide variety of views, abilities, skills and experiences from individuals.

Determined to do more than just sympathise while working within the welfare structure, I decided to help deal with their mental health issues with a more direct approach - so began to educate myself further.  Finally, after many, many study hours, I secured a Masters degree in psychotherapy.  With this certificate in my hand, it became possible for me to assist military folk and men and women across the land.

Personally...

The West Midlands has been my home for the past few years, and I currently live amongst the beautiful trees of the Wyre Forest, which I love. I also love travelling around in my campervan, visiting places of historic and spiritual interest.  As for food - well, I love Brit Grub!  Roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds are my favourite (oh, and chocolate).  My favourite flowers are white tulips of the spring and bright red poppies of the summer.

Sensitive, Empathetic - but Professional

I'll let you into a secret and make myself vulnerable for a moment or two.  As a young girl, I was regularly judged to be 'too sensitive'.  The typical 'girl in glasses' I often sat on my own while reading a book with a thumb firmly stuck in my mouth.  Subsequently, girls attempted to bully me.  Those who believed they were stronger.  They soon learned otherwise.

To me, being sensitive has enabled me to get in sync with others' emotions and give me the ability to get on their wavelength.  The older I have become, the more strength I have found in having these qualities.

I am aware of the spiritual aspect of our human nature and can enter the world of others' realities, accepting them for who they are.  If you are someone who hears voices, or are experiencing strange synchronicities, I help you begin to understand how to accept and deal with these 'strange' phenomena.

Skills and Knowledge

As well as being able to empathise, I have been able to detach myself enough to allow healing to begin within my clients, in a way that is comfortable for them.  What this means is that, working with all these different people has granted me a unique access into the contrasting minds and emotions of humanity.

Therefore, I understand it is natural that what technique works for one person, won't necessarily work for another.

To achieve my goals, I focused on learning only the best psychotherapy techniques designed to help you:

- ease your emotions

- understand why you think what you do

- figure out what it is you want from life - and how to get it

Putting these tools into practice has given me the ability to listen to you and the personal issues you face.  Then, draw upon my training and knowledge to get to the point quickly, while using your language in helping you:

- understand the raw deals you are facing

- figure out a way get on with your life

- teaching you how to use your own knowledge, skills and experiences

Emotional Needs

By identifying the missing emotional needs, I help my clients find why life is pulling them down into the toilet  Then I can teach them how to use their own psychological abilities and unique gifts in order to grow in self-confidence.

It raises the spirits to be able to laugh, and this is encouraged so my client's low moods can be lifted to a place they can feel comfortable and at ease with themselves.

Client Experiences

Often, people have returned to me with amazing comments about the things they've experienced soon after a therapy session with me.  They have said they've felt more calm inside than they've ever felt before.  Some have even expressed experiencing a magical sensation, some type of clarity and direction that before was foggy and clogged and, since the therapy session, that fog began to lift in subtle ways.

When I'm with a client, my insight into how to help heal troublesome memories and emotions grows throughout the sessions we have together.  I put my instincts to good use by sensing my way through assisting people understand their addictions, anxiety, anger, depression and to show the pathway onward, to a greater way of living their life - their way.

When clients come to me with addictions to food, alcohol, drugs or even social media, I figure out a way to help them through the fear towards a freedom they've not known before.  I don't just sit and listen.  I feel the cries of pain so I can lead my clients through to clarity.  I aim to help them identify and imagine the sensation of pleasure, of being able to use their own skills, experience and knowledge - and most importantly, to trust that inner voice.
